Often in our busy lives we find it challenging to find stillness and this can leave us feeling depleted, drained and lacking vitality and joy. This retreat is designed to recalibrate and bring balance to our energies by harmonizing the yin and the yang aspects of our being.

Light does not exist without dark and life is an interplay between supposed opposites; to feel wholeness, we need to invite and compassionately meet all aspects of self.

Through the practice of yoga and mindfulness, we will bring awareness to our physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies. Noticing our habitual thoughts, patterns, and stories and working through these helps us to reveal and reconnect with our truest, whole, and most authentic selves.

Daily dynamic vinyasa and yin yoga classes, workshops, pranayama, and meditation will leave you feeling restored, refreshed, and revitalized!

Workshop 2 – Creative Circles – (2 hours)
Mandalas, meaning circles in Sankrit, have long been used as tools for meditation and are seen as a sacred symbol by many traditions. These beautiful concentric designs can symbolize the circle of life, day and night, light and dark, yin and yang – ever moving round and round and never-ending.
We find mandalas abundantly in nature; throw a pebble into a still lake and observe the ripple or cut open a kiwi fruit to reveal the intricate design.
Jung described making mandalas as a form of visual journaling and this will be our intention for this creative workshop. Tuning into and trusting our inner wisdom, we will tap into our innate creativity as we intuitively paint our own beautiful mandala.
By absorbing yourself in this practice you will move into a meditative state noticing a sense of calmness, clarity, and focus.

Yoga

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra or Yoga Sleep is somewhat similar to guided meditation and is a practice that allows deep and profound conscious relaxation. We often equate relaxing with listening to music, watching TV, or walking in nature, which whilst enjoyable does not balance our energies in quite the same way as practicing Yoga Nidra.

By using the body, breath, and mind as a focus of awareness, we begin to shift our brain wave frequencies to an extended Alpha state. This is not sleeping (Delta waves) or dreaming (Theta), but the space of awareness in between wakefulness and dreaming/sleeping. These are the brain waves of true relaxation that not only refreshes and replenishes us but creates space for creativity to arise.

After practicing Yoga Nidra, we feel a deep sense of calm and peace and are more readily prepared for our tasks ahead.

Vinyasa Yoga

The word Vinyasa is derived from the Sanskrit term ‘Nyasa’ and the prefix ‘vi’, meaning arranging something in a special way. In yoga, this is done by coordinating the movement and the breath, moving from one pose to the next like in a flow. Generally speaking, we expand on our inhalation and contract on each exhalation.

Ease pose in a Vinyasa sequence is preparing us for the next and step by step we work towards a ‘peak’. The peak could be a complex pose, building strength, or increasing breath capacity.

As we flow in Vinyasa, we bring awareness to the link between the poses as well as begin to awaken prana (lifeforce) and the divine energy within. Vinyasa yoga builds heat, strengthens the body, and calms the mind through meditative movement.

The Place

Oneworld’s holistic retreat lies in the hills of Ubud, Bali – about 1.5 km away from the hustle and bustle of the village center. This retreat is peaceful and serene, bordered by a small creek to the west and surrounded by jungle and rice fields. And it is probably the only retreat centre in the world with a palace in its backyard!

We offer 12 comfortable and spacious rooms, a dining room, a yoga shala open to nature as well as a treatment center where you can enjoy high-quality treatments.

You will find lush gardens and pavilions to relax and indulge in the beautiful views. Should you wish to explore Ubud during your free time, we offer a shuttle service to the center of town.

Each room is air-conditioned and has its own terrace/balcony and bathroom. Comfortable yet unpretentious. For our guests’ ultimate serenity, we welcome guests of a minimum age of 14 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a yoga retreat and a Panchakarma detox program?

Yoga retreats are led by our in-house or guest yoga teachers. Each teacher offers different styles of yoga, teaching and experiences—some retreats include trips around the island or a deeper dive into your personal development. As part of your retreat you will have a choice of Ayurvedic or traditional treatments and be served delicious, healthy meals throughout. With a variety of retreats on offer you can find one that is perfectly suited to your needs.

A Panchakarma Detox Program is directed by our Ayurvedic doctors, who upon arrival will assess your bio-energy (Dosha) and create a tailored program to restore balance and address any health conditions you may have. While you will still practice yoga, it is a softer form of yoga as during a Panchakarma you can’t exert yourself too much. Similarly, during a Panchakarma gentle walks around the surrounding area are fine, but trips into town or further away should be avoided as external stimuli can affect the healing process.

You will have twice-daily Ayurvedic treatments and eat a variety of nutritious and balancing Ayurvedic meals as prescribed by our doctors.

Should I bring anything special for retreats?

Once the reservation is confirmed we send an information email to our guests. It is necessary to bring your own yoga clothing. There are clothes designed especially for yoga, stretchy top, and pants. However, one can practice yoga without these. A t-shirt and pair of shorts are fine for yoga. If the retreat includes a blessing ceremony we suggest that you take along a white shirt with sleeves.

We have enough yoga mats at the centre, yet you may want to bring your own. We also have a shop selling an assortment of eco-friendly TPE mats and Natural Rubber mats, as well as yoga clothing and supplies to assist you in your yoga practice!

I am pregnant – can I still join a retreat?

Not all yoga styles practiced in the retreats are suitable for expecting mothers. Of course, you may join a retreat, but we strongly recommend that you get approval from your doctor beforehand. During the retreat, you can adjust your poses based on your capability but it is important that you understand that you are responsible for any risks you are taking.

What is the minimum age for retreats?

The yoga retreats are open for people aged14 years and above.
