Yin Yoga is a meditative approach with a physical focus going deeper than any Yang yoga practice, accessing the deep tissues through the postures to focus on areas that encompass a joint (hips, sacrum, spine). The long time spent in the poses is like spending time in meditation, very deep and very relaxing, softening the muscles and moving closer to the bones.

She fell in love with the beautiful island of Bali during her travels and returned to do her teacher training through Yinspiration in Ubud, Bali. ONEWORLD retreats at Kumara

Resort

The fourteen bedroom holistic retreat is located 1.5 km from the heart of Ubud in Bali. Bordered by a small creek to the west, the eco-friendly retreat is surrounded by jungle and rice fields. The retreat centre offers two swimming pools, dining room, spa and 125 square meter yoga studio open to nature.

Each room is air-conditioned, has its own terrace, mini-bar and bathroom. Comfortable yet unpretentious. For our guests' ultimate serenity, we welcome guests of a minimum age of 14 years.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a quiet and simple practice, but not necessarily an easy one. It works deeply into the body, targeting the connective tissues that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. It is suitable for all level of students.

Holding stretches for long periods of time and other techniques closely related to Yin Yoga have been practised for centuries as part of the Daoist Yoga. Yin Yoga as we know it today was founded in the 1970s by martial arts expert and Taoist yoga teacher Paulie Zink and made popular by Yin Yoga teachers and developers Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers and Bernie Clark.

Yin yoga is based on the concept of yin and yang. Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect. In the body, the relatively stiff connective tissues (tendons, ligaments, fascia) are yin, while the more mobile and pliable muscles and blood are yang. Connective tissue responds best to a slow, steady load. Gently stretching connective tissue by holding a yin pose for a long time helps the body to respond by making them a little longer and stronger.

Yin Yoga is great for you if you are tired, over-stimulated, when your energy is too erratic, your mind overactive. We live in a world where we are non-stop surrounded by stimuli. Laptops, phones and all other mobile devices keep us constantly switched on and processing information. It becomes hard to switch off at all, the mind does not now how to just BE anymore. Becoming still in a pose and staying for a while helps to create emptiness and stillness in the mind, allowing for space for all that needs to come up - feelings of anxiety, happiness or sadness, boredom even. Things we suppress in our so busy lives.

Yin Yoga poses are also designed to improve the flow of qi, the subtle energy running through the meridian of the body. Improved flow of qi improves organ health, immunity and emotional well-being. Other benefits are increased circulation, improved flexibility, calmness and balance in the mind and body, reduction of stress and anxiety, fascial release, deeper relaxation, greater joint mobility, meridian stimulation to balance the organs.


Meals

All your meals are included and most are served at the resort.

Our chefs are experienced and eager to offer you the freshest, most tasteful and healthy meals. From our "table d'hôte" you may choose to eat vegetarian or non vegetarian meals. Just like at a friend's place, there are no menus, yet we make sure to know what you like and dislike!

Meals are served either in the jungle dining room or in the privacy of your own balcony table.

Spa treatments

Included are two blissful spa treatments, the 2.5 hours Ayurvedic Chakra dhara massage and Relaxing massage. Other treatments are available onsite, you may wish to view our spa menu.
